This mapped out cycling tour shows you the versatility of Westland. From the forest, through the dunes, to the waterways, along peaceful nature reserves and through atmospheric village centres. Ideal for a sporty day out!
The cycling route
The 52 km long bike ride starts and ends at Vlugtenburg Holiday Park. You drive through the forest on the edge of Hoek van Holland, a little later you come across the boulevard. Here you have a beautiful view over the water, the many ships and the port of Rotterdam. Further along the Nieuwe Waterweg you will see a few lighthouses on the quay. You drive along the Oranjeplassen, a nature reserve rich in birds. You will also cycle along the Vlietlanden, a pristine lake area.

You will cycle past both the Kraaiennest and the Wollebrand, two quiet recreational areas with a pond. A nice place to catch your breath and to cool off in the water or look for the shade.

You don’t have to look far from the park, since Vlugtenburg is the start and end point of this special cycling tour.
The bike tour does not need to be booked. Of course, a bicycle is crucial to be able to participate in the tour. If you do not have a bicycle with you, you can easily borrow one at the reception (€12 per day). It is important that you complete the bike ride, because then you will see your paid deposit of €25,- neatly back. Would you rather go for an electric bicycle? That will cost you €25 per day.
