Come enjoy our beautiful beach! With the title of cleanest beach of the Netherlands 2024, we make your beach day even more fun. With us you can sunbathe, swim and play on a clean and safe shoreline.

Both our residents and visitors contribute to cleanliness. We are committed to an environmentally friendly environment with various sustainable initiatives that keep our beach clean and healthy.

Vlugtenburg is a child-friendly beach where little ones can have hours of fun in the clean sand and safe swimming water. Our beach is also pet-friendly, so you can bring your faithful four-legged friend for a day out by the sea. The whole family can enjoy the clean sanitation facilities, cozy beach pavilions and safe swimming areas.

Our seaside location offers spectacular views and refreshing sea breezes, ideal for a relaxing day. Vlugtenburg is a family park par excellence, where families can come together to enjoy a carefree day at the beach. For those who want some action, there are various beach activities such as beach volleyball, sandcastle building and kite flying. Everyone will find something fun to do here.

Beach Elections

The Beach Elections have been held annually in the Netherlands since 2006. There are several rounds of inspections. Here measurements are carried out by Strand Nederland, commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat. A total of two prizes are awarded. One for the Cleanest Beach in the Netherlands and one for the Best Beach Pavilion in the Netherlands. The municipality of Westland has already received a score of 4 stars in 2020 through 2023. In 2023 the beach was already allowed to carry the title “Very Clean Beach”. We are very proud that beach Vlugtenburg won the top prize this year.
