Where nature connects city and sea

In South -Holland, along the North Sea, between beach and inland and close to major cities, lies National Park Hollandse Duinen. A unique area where estates, dunes, bulb fields, peat meadows, villages and towns alternate. It is enormously diverse, always different and full of experience. With a little luck you will see foxes, deer and seals. And that in the middle of the most densely populated area of the Netherlands.

National park new style

National Park Holland Dunes is one of the first new-style national parks, making it much more than just nature. Holland Dunes is unique because of its proximity to the sea, villages and cities, the valuable nature in and around the dunes and its rich culture and history. The mix of natural and man-made landscapes is what makes the area so “Dutch. There you experience the interaction between man and nature. You can see the results of our old struggle against-and our new connection to-water.

National park under development

In late 2016, the Dutch public chose Hollandse Duinen as one of the most beautiful natural areas in the Netherlands. Less than 5 months earlier, Dunea had taken the initiative to establish the national park. As many as 39 partners joined the initiative. Together we drew up an ambition document: what do we stand for as a National Park? About 100 residents, users, volunteers and business owners provided input.
